Get Silly

It's important as a teacher (and person) to not take life so seriously all of the time. I know that some teachers feel more vulnerable when they "let go" in the classroom and be silly with their students-but in my opinion, some of my best moments with my students involve all of us letting loose and having fun with one another. Whether it's indulging in some Orange Leaf frozen yogurt after a play (you'd be amazed how many teachable moments one can find at a frozen yogurt restaurant!)...

Or ripping a phone book in half to show how amazingly strong you are-yes, I actually did it-because there's a secret trick (after demonstrating this awesome friction experiment)...

Or rapping about the layers of the earth (and dressing the part)...

Or sharing your passions and talents with them...

Or going all out for school spirit days and events...

Or participating in school events with them... (this was a limo lunch ride reward for our fundraiser)

Or "getting into" your school field trips and showing how excited adults can be about learning too...

Or even dancing around backstage during the school Talent Show! I'm in the purple flapping around. :)

Showing off your silly side shows your students that you are human and that you aren't too rigid to have fun! So...show off your silly side more often!

Have you shown off your silly side lately?
